The Team Pons 40 HP Tuenti, which will participate in the Moto2 world championship with three riders this year, has officially presented their lineup with Pol Espargaró, Tito Rabat and Axel Pons on Friday at the 40 Café de Madrid. The DJ and music producer Carlos Jean is the sponsor of this ambitious project to fight for the title this season.

During the presentation of 40 HP Tuenti Pons, the former 250cc world champion Sito Pons said “I rarely have the riders in my team riders that I want and for 2012 I can say I have achieved my aim and that the whole team will return to fight for the Moto2 World Championship.” Toni Sánchez, director of the radio sponsor 40 Principales, highlighted “the leadership of all team members, starting with the riders, and the partners who make this possible, like 40, HP and Tuenti. Young people have a passion for music, 40 is the number one and we must ensure that this union is also number one.” Salva Cayón, HP marketing manager, commented that “we will continue to support this project with our technology and participate with using them like the young people do to communicate and have fun”. Alejandro Vázquez Guillén, vice president of business development at Tuenti, is sure that “this team and Tuenti, we rely on the talent to excel in a very competitive world and the over 13 million users will be pushing the bikes of our riders.”

Sito Pons: “For 2012 we managed to tailor a team with a lot of talent and proven winning experience in Moto2. We are very excited and convinced that we can fight for the podium in every race and the world title of the category. Pol, Tito and Axel will have the best material possible, with the bike that last year was the world champion, and a first class technical team which for years has demonstrated its outstanding ability. I’m happy to lead one of the best teams I’ve had in my three decades in the World Championship.”

POL ESPARGARÓ: “I’m very happy to have chosen the option to compete with this team. The relationship with Santi Mulero, my technician, has been perfect from the first session and with the Pons Kalex we’ve been among the top three at all circuits that we rode at. Last year it was hard for me to adapt to Moto2 and until the podium in Indianapolis I was on the edge of despair. This year I am convinced that it’s going to be different and it’s given me great confidence to be with the best from the start and in all tests. Two years ago, in the 125cc class, it was a joy to be fighting for the win in all races and I would like to repeat that in 2012.”

TITO RABAT: “I’ve been in the championship for years and this is the time where I see myself stronger and riding with a spectacular technical team that is helping me to improve in each test. I am very motivated, because it was relatively easy for me to get to grips with the Kalex and my laptimes were better than last year at all circuits that we rode at. I think I can get great results and repeat more than once the podium from last year in Indianapolis. I have a great opportunity ahead of me and I will take full advantage of it.”

AXEL PONS: “This will be my fourth season in the world championship, the third in Moto2, and I would like to have the consistency and better luck in terms of injuries, which I lacked so far, in order to progress and be in the points regularly. I started the preseason with caution, because it’s been more than three months without getting on the bike due to the serious accident at the end of 2011 and I have been improving at a rapid pace in every session. I hope that 2012 will be a good year for me and that I can regularly be in the Top 10.”
