Dani Pedrosa Blog, Qatar Grand Prix: Feeling satisfied
Dani Pedrosa shared his thoughts about the first race of the season at Qatar in his Repsol Blog. Below you find the complete Blog post.
I am writing to you after a good weekend and a bright start to the 2012 World Championship. We finished in second position, on the podium. A great result, although it was a bit of a disappointment because we were fighting for the victory right to the very end, but bearing in mind the problems we had over the weekend I feel satisfied.
The weekend was very hard because I fell in practice, then we could not find the right setup and even the bike did not start for the qualification session. But once again I have to give a big thank you to the team, they spent several sleepless nights working to put everything right.
But then in the warm-up the bike felt a lot more comfortable, I was confident about the race itself. We started down the field but the key was to get a good start. Things went well and on the first corner I was up with the leaders.
The tyres began to spin quite soon and I took care but I could not let Lorenzo and Stoner get away from me. Following Jorge`s rear wheel was very difficult but little by little I found myself ready to fight for the win. I feel very satisfied with my performance in the physical sense, as I did not have any injuries during the pre-season I was really able to focus on that aspect.
I want to thank then team more than ever for having given their all over the whole of last week, which is what allowed me to be up there with the winner. I also want to thank my fans, they have been supporting me since the pre-season and you encourage me to carry on working hard day after day.
I also want to send my best wishes to Joan Lascorz and all his family at this very difficult moment. Since I met him, racing against him on mini-bikes, I know that he is a fighter. Come on Champion!
Regards,
Dani.
