Good start for LaGlisse Team at Jerez after switching to new FTR chassis

 In Moto3, News

After receiving the new FTR on Thursday afternoon and working without pause until the late hours of the morning to have everything ready for the first free practice at Jerez, the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse Team finished the day with Efrén Vázquez in 7th and Adrián Martín in 8th on their first runs with the British chassis.

Although the morning session was dry, things didn’t go too well for the team and riders as everything was still new, but in the afternoon Efrén as well as Adrián were able to position themselves among the fastest riders. Now they can only keep improving and the expectations of the team for the qualifying on Saturday are much higher.

On the other side of the box teammate Iván Moreno was able to improve his laptime in the dry, compared to the IRTA test in March, but took things calmy in the wet and finished the sessions further behind.

#7 Efrén Vázquez – 7th – 2’00”644
“We were really looking for the session to be dry to continue improving the setup of the bike, but in the end the wet session was like a gift, because we achieved a good position and saw that the team is capable to get the bike setup right to be competitive from the first practice. The team has worked a lot and this result is a reward for all of them, but we have to keep working to continue like this or better.”

#26 Adrián Martín – 8th – 2’00”762
“I’m very happy, because this is a motivational boost for the team after the work they’ve done throughout the whole night. This morning it was a bit difficult for us, but this is normal for the first time going out on track with this bike, but in the afternoon we felt comfortable. I like the wet, because these are difficult conditions for everyone and everything can happen. Whether it’s wet or dry, the important thing is to keep on like this and do well.”

#21 Iván Moreno – 34th – 2’07”121
“It’s been a slightly difficult practice, because we never rode on the wet and I didn’t have a very good feeling. Also, the last time I rode in the wet I broke my arm, so I went out with even more caution than usual. But little by little I found my rhythm and for tomorrow we have things very clearly and I expect to be faster even when it rains. If it’s dry I’ll also try to improve and finish as high up as possible.”

Jaime Fdez-Avilés (Team Manager)
“This will be a very tough weekend, because we changed the bike and yesterday the mechanics worked until after five in the morning to finish setting everything up. The first free practice was a bit difficult, because the bikes stopped a couple of times because of electronics problems, but in the second session we had the right settings and I’m more than happy, because the two riders finished among the top ten. I think if the rain continues on Sunday we can aim to finish among the top five, which would be a big success for the team.”
