Martín and Vázquez happy with first dry session on FTR chassis, Moreno still learning new track

In their second race with the FTR chassis, the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse Team finished the first day of practice for the Portuguese Grand Prix in Estoril satisfied, again having done good work to continue the progress. The weather conditions at Estoril have not been the best to work on the setting of the bike and in the morning session the Moto3 riders were out on wet asphalt with rain tyres.

In these tricky conditions Adrián Martín posted the fourth-fastest laptime while Efrén Vázquez finished the first practice in seventh. In the afternoon the circuit was almost entirely dry and with slick tyres all riders were able to improve their laptimes. Although Adrián looked to be among the four fastest, he eventually finished 9th while Efrén moved to 11th position with his last lap.

For tomorrow the team hopes that the conditions stay dry to continue the progress with the setup of the FTR chassis.

Iván Moreno also continued with his adaption to the Moto3 class and posted the 25th-fastest laptime on his first visit to Estoril. Like his teammates Adrián and Efrén he also hopes to make another step forward in FP3 and the qualifying tomorrow.

#26 Adrián Martín 9º 1’49”937
“I’m very satisfied, because we had wet conditions in the morning and we were fourth and in the afternoon we’ve been ninth in the dry. Considering this is our first time riding with this bike in the dry, I think this is very good. But we still have a lot of work ahead of us, because the bike isn’t completely set up to my liking, but I trust in my team and working a little more on the chassis I’m sure we can make another step. Now we have to get the bike set up 100% and push hard tomorrow.”

#7 Efrén Vázquez 11º 1’50”460
“We had two practices where we could ride calmly and test some things. In the morning with wet conditions it went pretty well for us and now in the afternoon we had the track almost completely dry and we tested things and gathered kilometres to understand the bike better. We basically did the work we should have done in Jerez, but the weather didn’t allow us to do. But the important thing is that the bike is going well and in every session I feel a little better.”

#21 Iván Moreno 25º 1’52”237
“This is a track where I’ve never ridden before and this has made it a little difficult for me, because in the morning it was wet. In the afternoon we rode in the dry and I learned a lot. I latched on to some riders to move up, but this is normal when you don’t know the circuit. But I’m satisfied, because we went from little to more. I felt comfortable with the bike and we know where we can improve, myself as well as the bike. Tomorrow we’ll improve for sure.”

Jaime Fdez-Avilés (Team Manager)
“This really was the first practice we had in the dry to get some conclusions for the setup. We still have work to do, but I’m satisfied with the team. Considering the condition of the asphalt, having two riders in the front positions is very good and I’m very satisfied for those two. Now we have to work a little more on the setting, because we still have to get to know this bike a little better.”
