Rodríguez struggling with confidence at Portuguese track
Today the second day of the Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril got underway with the third and final free practice in the morning and the qualifying in the afternoon, both with good weather conditions and all sessions being run on a dry track.
Ángel Rodríguez had an unusual day, having to finish the third practice early in the morning due to technical problems with the swing arm of his bike while in the qualifying he couldn’t find the necessary confidence to go fast on the Portguese track. Thus, the Desguaces La Torre SAG Team rider will have to start tomorrow’s race from 30th on the grid, a position which will make it very difficult for him to achieve the targets he’d set for this Grand Prix.
30.ÁNGEL RODRÍGUEZ (DESGUACES LA TORRE SAG TEAM // FTR), 1’44.253:
“Apparently this is a very draining Grand Prix and I feel this a lot. On Friday we started very well, but after the crash we couldn’t recover which caused us a bad position on the grid. Today in the qualifying I couldn’t manage the bike and I couldn’t do a good laptime to start from a good position in the race. Tomorow we have to do a good warmup to find a way to leave Portugal with our heads held high.”
