“We had a poor start into the day with an ugly crash in the warm-up session this morning, from which I luckily walked away without injury and which also didn’t cause too much damage to the bike. I had a lot of lean angle and opened the throttle too early and had a highsider. My team did a great job getting the bike ready for the race, because since the Moto2 Grand Prix was first on the schedule today, there wasn’t al lot of time at all. At the beginning of the race, I was still cautious because the crash was in the back of my mind and I definitely didn’t want to crash again. But then I found my rhythm and went better and better, clearly faster than in practice. There was another rider in front of me who was a great reference and I even thought of attacking him on the last laps, but then it was better not to take any risks and to get a safe finish in order to re-build my confidence for the races to come!”
