Vázquez celebrates best ever qualifying result with second, Martin relegated to 12th after crash
In their fourth round in the Moto3 championship the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse Team can already claim to have finished one race in the top five and reached the front row in qualifying, a good record for a team that’s still gaining experience in the world championship. Like in Estoril the protagonist in France again was Efrén Vázquez who together with his team, lead by Esteban García, got the maximum out of the FTR chassis which the team uses for the second race of the year.
At Le Mans Efrén has so far been always among the fastest and today with the circuit being wet for qualifying he finished in second position to start tomorrow’s race from the first row. His teammate Adrián Martín also shone in these difficult conditions and moved as high up as third, but a crash in the final minutes of the session relegated him to the fourth row.
Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse rider Iván Moreno also didn’t have much luck in the rain and as he felt more comfortable on his FTR he crashed and lost all chances to improve.
#7 Efrén Vázquez 2º 1’56”847 “Very happy is the best way to describe it. I’m very satisfied with the work we did during the whole weekend and I think this has been the most productive Grand Prix since we started the championship. We worked very well and since Jerez we are getting to where we think we can be. But without a doubt this second place is a satisfying reward for everyone. Especially for the team, because they deserve it. Jaime and the mechanics have worked a lot and with bags of motivation and I hope this is only the beginning, that we are close to the front in every race. Tomorrow we have a tough race ahead of us, let’s see what the weather will be, but we have to take a advantage of starting from the front. I’ll give it 100%.”
#26 Adrián Martín 12º 1’58”315 “We finished 12th, but the positive thing is that before I crashed I was third. I think we can draw a positive balance, because this morning we were far behind and I didn’t feel good on the bike at all. It’s been a shame this afternoon, because we have a pretty bad streak of crashes and this makes you lose confidence. Little by little I try to adapt to the bike, because the team has done a fantastic job, motivating me a lot to get out of this rut. Tomorrow we have to finish the race to get points, confidence and experience which will come in very handy to be at the same level as Efrén in Montmelo, a little behind or a little ahead, but I think this is where we belong.”
#21 Iván Moreno 29º 2’02”379 “Honestly I’m not very happy, especially about myself, because I crashed when I was doing pretty fast laptimes and that was not the right moment to crash. The circuit slowly dried out, I felt very good and little by little I improved, but this happens when you ride in the wet. The crash was unexpected and I didn’t get a warning from the bike, but that’s how it is. Tomorrow it depends on whether it’ll rain or stay dry, we’ll see how it is, but frankly, today in the wet I felt very comfortable, so I don’t mind if it rains. What’s clear is that we’re going to play catch-up from behind to try and get a point which is our target.”
