Moreno takes personal best result with 9th, Vazquez not able to start, Martin crashes out
After qualifying for the first row on the grid, Sunday didn’t work out well for the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse Team. Efrén Vázquez wasn’t even able to join the race after a broken cable in the eletronics of his FTR Honda kept the bike from being started. His teammate Adrián Martín managed to get into good positions, but the track was in horrible conditions and finally he couldn’t avoid a crash. From the 34 riders on the grid only 15 managed to finish the race with only nine of them still being within a lap of the eventual winner, local hero Louis Rossi.
It was Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse rider Iván Moreno who occupied that final spot within a lap of the Frenchman, being one of the few racers to stay on their bikes the entire time and reaping the reward with an excellent ninth place after starting from 29th on the grid. It’s only the second time Iván scores points in the world championship and he achieved it with a very consistent rhythm to finish the race with a very positive result.
#21 Iván Moreno 9º “I’m very happy, because we finished the race and took ninth. The start was very difficult, because you could see absolutely nothing and the first few laps were very tough, because starting from so far behind there are many bikes in front and therefore you can’t make up many positions. But I stayed focused, maintaining a consistent pace and being quite comfortable and little by little I made up places. I also have to say that the many crashes have helped me and because of that we’re that far up, but today the track was the same for everyone. The ninth place feels like a win and I have to thank the team, because the bike is better every time and I feel more comfortable. At Montmelo, which is a circuit I know, I think we can do very well.”
#7 Efrén Vázquez “To be honest, today there’s little to say. The engine broke due to an electrical problem and now that just needs to be fixed, so it doesn’t happen again in the next races. It’s a shame, because we had a great position on the grid and my only goal was to ride very calmly and finish. That’s exactly what Iván did. If we could have been there we could have finishing higher up in the race. But racing is like this and surely when we achieve the results we deserve we’ll enjoy them much more. The positive is that we did a great job throughout the entire weekend, although for strange reasons we couldn’t put the icing on the cake.”
#26 Adrián Martín “We continue with our bad luck… But I have to thank the team once more, because they keep working with the same motivation and this is very important for me. It wasn’t a question of making a mistake, more of a track in impossible condition. From first to last, you saw that those who had the fortune to finish the race got points or were among the top ten almost with certainty. I planned the race well and I was calm, but I hit a puddle of water and crashed. Now we have to turn the page and I hope that our championship starts at Montmelo. Surely racing at home and with the good work of the team we can to well, for sure.”
