Luis Salom will start from the second row in his home race, after setting the sixth fastest time in qualifying: 1.52.833. He set his time with four minutes remaining in the session. At the time it was enough for second place. Salom was held up in traffic in the middle of a Spanish ‘train’ consisting of (amongst others) Vazquez, Marquez and Faubel.

Luis Salom (6th): “In the morning we did a lot of work on the new chassis. It is getting better step by step and we are in the zone where it starts to become good. In the corners it still is difficult to push, but we know what to do considering the suspension to be ready for the race. Starting from the second row is important here. It will be a close battle for sure. I feel confident I can go with the front group and battle for the podium again.”

Team manager Johan Stigefelt: “It’s a pity for Brad, but the crash wasn’t his fault. He could do nothing. We know he is a good starter, so we still have high hopes for the race. For Luis we have the same expectations. We have to get through this process of a new chassis. We have no time for testing, so we have to test and setup in the practice sessions. That’s not always easy for a rider, but we all understand the need.”
