Salom struggling with new Kalex chassis at home round
Round 5 of the Moto3 world championship has been a difficult one for RW Racing GP, with Brad Binder leaving Barcelona with a fractured rib and a bruised back and Luis Salom disappointed with just 6 points.
The Catalan Grand Prix just didn’t bring the Dutch team and its riders what they all had hoped for. Salom was struggling with the new Kalex chassis and therefore couldn’t ride his bike the way he needed to to fight for the podium.
Luis Salom (10th): “To start with the good thing: I’m still third in the championship. But I picked up just 6 points and that is not enough to be satisfied. We don’t really understand the problem and that is the biggest problem. Also Hector Faubel has the new chassis and it seems to work for him. But I cannot push the bike in the corners, I do not feel confident on it. We sure have some thinking and discussing to do before Silverstone.”
Team manager Johan Stigefelt: “As for Luis: it’s not just him who is disappointed. We are trying to find a solution together with Kalex. Luis is third in the championship: we cannot afford another result like this.”
