Satisfying test for Bautista at Aragon despite extreme heat slowing down progress
An uncharacteristically oppressive heat took track temperatures all the way up to 60°, with air temperature in the mid-30s. Nevertheless, both riders put in laps to continue their work from the previous test, with Alvaro Bautista racking up 56 laps, working mainly on the right settings for the track.
Alvaro Bautista (7th, 1’50.294, 56 laps) “It felt like we were in Africa with the heat on track today! Our job was definitely not easy out there. Unfortunately, the conditions slowed us down a little and we weren’t quite able to work as we had planned or as we had done at the positive test in Barcelona. The conditions were really out of the ordinary, on a track which also has some special characteristics which made things strange. In any case, this test was important for understanding and taking forward some our ideas for the next few GPs. We weren’t as fast as at Montmeló, but we are satisfied and go to Silverstone confident.”
