Salom on the pace in blustery conditions and getting to grips with new chassis
Luis Salom will start the British Grand Prix from the second row of the grid. At a windy but dry Silverstone circuit the Spanish rider for RW Racing GP set a time of 2.17.485. That was good enough for sixth place. Salom was even a bit faster, but ran over the line exiting the corner before the straight, which is forbidden. Riders who run off at that place of the track lose their time set in that lap. The difference for Salom was that he was set back from fourth to sixth on the grid.
Salom was clearly on the pace at Silverstone: he was the fastest Moto3 rider in sector 2 and once again had one of the highest top speeds.
Luis Salom (6th): “The bike is fast! I understand the new chassis now and I am starting to feel more and more confident with it. The team worked will this weekend so far. I am happy with that. I can follow the other fast riders easily. I have a good feeling for the race.”
