The first day of the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring has been a useful one for RW Racing GP. After the somewhat disappointing home race of the Dutch team – with Luis Salom missing out on the podium by 0,001 second – the visor was set on the next race. Both Luis Salom and Brad Binder complained about a lack of power in the Dutch TT in Assen. Therefor the pressure was on KTM to bring a better engine to Germany.

In the first two free practices it seemed a lot better than in Assen. Salom was third in the first session and tenth in the second. Binder came in as 21st when a shower hit the circuit near Chemnitz in the eastern part of Germany.

Luis Salom (10th): “I had a good start. Especially in the morning it was a good session for us. We tried something with the chassis. It wasn’t quite what we expected, but we know what to adjust for tomorrow. The new engine we got from KTM seems very good. At least much better than in Assen.”

Team manager Johan Stigefelt: “Our anger last week in Assen has been useful. KTM has worked very hard to deliver a better engine. I am happy with that. Because the differences are very small and the weather might be of big influence again, we have to be clever in qualifying. It is hot and damp and there is always a chance of rain.”
