Rosell only Moto2 rider to continue with Moriwaki as teammate receives new chassis
Anthony West had a very special first day of practice at Mugello, since the Australian rider of QMMF Racing Team received a new Italian motorcycle for the Italian Grand Prix. The 30-year-old Queenslander, who had never been able to find the right feeling and set-up with his previous Moriwaki prototype, is now riding a Speed Up, the same successful bike Italy’s hero Andrea Iannone is using in his Moto2 world championship campaign. Whereas West used the first two free practice sessions to adapt his riding style to the Speed Up and is now confident to have found the right tool to achieve the desired results in the future, QMMF Racing Team looks back to one and a half great years of partnership with Moriwaki and wants to thank he Moriwaki family and their engineers for all their help and support.
West’s team-mate Elena Rosell, who still continues to ride the Moriwaki, found another new and exciting circuit to learn. The only female rider in the Grand Prix world championship had a small crash in the afternoon, but walked away unhurt and looks forward to attack again on Saturday.

“Mugello is another new circuit for me and it’s lots of fun, very fast and very technical at the same time. It’s a challenge to find and to stay on the right line, because as soon as you miss the best line especially on the downhill sections, you lose lots of momentum and speed. Apart from learning the track, I also battled with chassis problems, especially front end chatter. In the afternoon, I lost the front going into the third corner, just after a tyre change in the pits, which was unfortunate because this small crash stopped our progress for the day. I look forward to going out again tomorrow and to battle for the best possible lap time!”
