Official: Alex Marquez to compete with Ambrogio Next Racing for rest of season
Spanish youngster Alex Marquez, brother of Moto2 rider Marc Marquez, will ride the rest of the season with the Ambrogio Next Racing Team in the Moto3 world championship, along with his fight for the CEV title. The Cervera native is currently leading the Spanish Championship with the Junior Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol and had already three wildcard rides this year with the sister team Estrella Repsol. Starting with the Indianapolis Grand Prix on August 19th he’ll compete with the team from Luxembourg, which has it’s racing department in Alicante.
Team owner Fiorenzo Caponera has closely followed the performance of the younger Marquez in the 2012 season and considers him an important part to achieve good results in the remainder of the championship. Márquez will ride a Suter, the same bike he competed with in his wildcard entries at Jerez, Estoril and Montmeló as well as in the CEV. The main focus for him will be to get to know the international circuits and gain experience racing against the world championship riders.
Alex Márquez: “I’m very happy about the opportunity given to me by Ambrogio Next Racing. I didn’t expect it, so it motivates me even more for the challenges we’ve set out for this season. The main goal remains to fight for the title in the CEV; where we’ll race this weekend in Albacete, and in the world championship I intend to gain a lot of experience, learning all the circuits which I’ve never ridden before.”
Emilio Alzamora, Monlau Competición: “We’re very satisfied at Monlau Competición to have come to this agreement with Ambrogio Next Racing. This will expand the trainings programme of Alex, in which his main objective is to fight for the Spanish Championship. This chance for Alex will give him a lot of experience to get on the pace of the Moto3 riders.”
