Positive race for Simon at Brno despite finishing outside the top ten
It’s been a positive race for Blusens Avintia rider Julian Simon in Brno. The Spaniard started from pretty far behind on the grid and couldn’t use the first lap to make up positions, being relegated to 19th place at the first run over the line. Despite the difficulty to pass in this equal championship, Julian made up positions again until he caught up with the second group. He maintained a good pace, riding fast – at times he was second-fastest during the race – and only an unproductive battle with another rider kept him from catching up with the group fighting for fifth place. After the result from Indianapolis everything seems little which doesn’t result in a podium and certainly the 11th place doesn’t reflect the great job the team and rider did to improve the setting yesterday and doesn’t show the great pace and good performance of Julian in the race.
60 Julián Simón (11º, +12.388): “I’d always like to be further up, especially having been on the podium, but I’m happy because I had a good pace, made up positions and if it hadn’t been for the fight with Rabat I think I could have been closer to the group of riders who were fighting for the fifth place. The start had the biggest effect on my race, because I couldn’t find the gap in the first lap and I rode very carefully at the start. I’m taking with me the great work of the team, with the method of work that we have and with which we improved considerably from the practice to today. Now, before Misano, we will analyze these two races, recovering strength and trying to get back to the positions we had in Indianapolis.”
