Silva forced to retire from Brno race with mechanical failure

It’s been again very different fortunes for the Avintia Blusens riders at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno. While Yonny Hernández finished again in the points with 12th position, teammate Iván Silva had to retire after braking the gear level in the final part of the race. Silva was fighting with Edwards and Pirro at the start of the race, but the chattering he’s been suffering during the whole weekend didn’t allow him to be more competitive. After saving a crash when he lost the front completely, it was difficult for him to get his confidence back and he wasn’t able to keep up with his rivals until he was forced to retire.

22 Iván Silva: “I was behind Pirro and Yonny, but I rode with little power because of the chattering I had on the front. To keep up the pace I pushed it and in one corner I had more chatter than expected on the front, the front closed and although I could avoid a crash from then on I lacked confidence. I wanted to take points and preferred not to risk too much, so I dropped the pace a little and Edwards and Pasini caught up. The race was long and I wanted to wait how it would develop, but the gear lever came out and I had to stop. It’s the first time this season that we’ve had to retire because of a failure, so we can’t complain too much. Tomorrow we have a good plan to work to maybe improve for the next races.”
