Terol eager to continue recent surge of form, Torres aiming for points finish
Step by step, MAPFRE Aspar rider Nico Terol is fighting his way up to the front in Moto2. In the last four races he has been a constant presence in the points, progressively improving his placing along the way. At the last round at Brno, he was one of the leading riders up until the halfway point of the contest, and now his ambitions are clearly established: Regular top ten finishes and a shot at the podium before the end of the season.
Teammate Jordi Torres is also improving steadily. He has been back in the Moto2 World Championship for two races and has already picked up points. His aim is to add further points to his tally.
Nico Terol: “We head to Misano after an improvement in feeling with the Moto2 bike in the past few races. I feel better than ever and am starting to really enjoy myself. The class is tough, so you have to always be focused. It is very important to qualify high up the order, just like we did at Brno. I had a very good race there but fell back towards the end, which I hope doesn’t happen at Misano. We are on a really good path with our work, so we should continue working at the same pace as at Brno. Misano is very twisty, so you have to pay attention in every session. The smallest mistake can leave you very far down, even if it is just by a tenth of a second. I have always ridden well there and won in 125cc last season. I am motivated and know that I can ride fast at Misano.”
Jordi Torres: “I am very motivated, because I have only been back in the World Championship for two races and I was already able to take points at Brno. Fortunately I already know the Misano circuit, although I wasn’t able to race there last season because of a finger injury from practice. I still like the track and I hope that I can go as well there as I was last year before the crash. This past Sunday I raced in the CEV and I suppose that I will need to get used to the Dunlop tyres again, but I hope to do that as soon as possible. The team are working perfectly, giving me a great setting that suits my riding style in very little time. I will go all-out at Misano right from the opening session in order to keep improving.”
