Second start after red flag hampers Simon’s top five aspirations
The red flag during the Moto2 race at Misano was shown after only four laps and meant a sudden stop to the good pace which Julián Simón had at this moment in eighth place after doing a great start. The oil left on track after an engine blowup for Gino Rea caused the red flag and a restart. In that second start however Julián couldn’t find the good line through the field he managed to take before and couldn’t get to the front group. His tough battle with another rider kept him from catching up with the group in front of him. But despite this, the rider from Villacañas leaves this Grand Prix weekend with a good feeling and high motivation ahead of the next round at Aragón.
60_Julián Simón (12º, +11.509):”In the second start I’ve been bunched up in the middle of the pack in the first corner and I couldn’t take the good line like I did at the first start. I tried to close up to the second group, but the battle I had with Nakagami meant we lost the chance to do that. From there I struggled a lot with the front tyre – something strange happened which we will have to analyze – and this made it even more difficult to get into the top five which was the goal. In any case, I’m encouraged, because we have a good pace and I know we can get to the positions we want. Now we go to Aragón which is a circuit I like and at which I hope to continue improving.”
