Rosell confident for race despite front-end issues
After three wet free practice sessions, the famous Motorland Aragón dried up right in time for qualifying at the third Grand Prix of the year in Spanish territory and QMMF Racing Team Elena Rosell was much happier with her performance. Despite set-up problems with the front end of her new Speed-Up machine, the lady racer from Valencia qualified in 31st position with a gap of just four seconds to the top and could have gone even faster without the traffic on the track in the final stages of the session. On one of her favourite circuits, she is now looking forward to battle with some other riders and to put up a show in front of her home crowd.
Elena Rosell – 31st in 1.58,367 “I wasn’t entirely happy in the end, because some other guys got in my way on the final laps and I wasn’t able to chase a better lap time. I am sure I could have gone faster, but what can you do. I just hope the weather will stay dry for tomorrow because I really think that I can put up a fight and battle with the guys that are right in front of me in the time sheets. I want to make the most of this opportunity to race in Spain on a circuit that I know. It’s a bit of a shame that we only had one dry session to find a good set-up, because the bike is still new to us and if we have set-up problems, we need more time than others to find out what will work and what won’t. This afternoon for instance, I had trouble with the front end. I didn’t have a safe feeling, instead I had lots of chatter and the front kept folding away. As time goes by, we will understand the bike better and better, but for the race tomorrow, I just want to improve, fight and have some fun!”
