Simon only 18th at Aragon despite tough battle for points
In a typical Moto2 race, that’s to say with a great number of riders fighting to the limit in big groups, Blusens Avintia rider Julián Simón finished the Aragon Grand Prix in 18th position, having been in the third group of the race in which he fought until the finish line for the last point he could get.
After a good start and a good first lap, Simón wasn’t able to close in on the group in front of him to try and get among the top ten. A lot of chattering on the front kept him from getting a better result. Both the team and Julian want to return to the podium in the next rounds to finish the championship with a good feeling.
60_Julián Simón (18º, +17.837): “I didn’t get the result I wanted, obviously. At the beginning of the race I passed several riders and I felt stronger than in qualifying, but it was difficult to maintain that pace in every lap. In the group I was in we fought among ourselves a lot and we lost time. Despite that I tried to get a few points, but I had a lot of chattering and it wasn’t possible. The team was fantastic during the whole weekend and tried to make the best bike possible. We rode with a different chassis than in the last races and I think it wasn’t positive. Now we will work ahead of Japan to try and return to the podium.”
