Vazquez takes fifth after good podium battle, Moncayo in the points again, Martin crashes out
The podium gets closer and closer for the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse Team. Today at Aragón Efrén Vázquez showed a spectacular race in which he fought for victory until the last lap. His bike was undoubtedly the fastest of the Hondas today, but it still wasn’t enough to catch the Kalex and KTM riders. In the end the rider from Rekalde crossed the line in fifth position, but with a great feeling and the race being a big motivation for him and the team ahead of the three overseas races where the goal for him and the team is none other than to get on the podium.
Adrián Martín, who is still riding with a broken scaphoid in his left hand, suffered a crash when he was in 17th position. Andalucía JHK T-Shirt rider Alberto Moncayo also was part of the huge leading group, but he had several big moments which finally kept him from fighting for top positions and he brought home 13th place.
#7 Efrén Vázquez, 5º “I’m happy. Because we needed a race like this one, especially at a home Grand Prix. The team and myself needed this to be able to move forward. The changes we made for the race worked perfectly and I felt very comfortable with the bike. Within the Hondas it went very fast and like in Misano I could complain a little about the engine, but here I wasn’t unlucky. I want to congratulate the team and the sponsors, because I think with this perseverance we will be on the podium soon. We have a team boss who is committed to get the best and that for me is the most important.”
#23 Alberto Moncayo, 13º “The result doesn’t reflect all the work we did during the weekend. But I’m happy, because after going off track three times and crashing, this result is good. I felt very strong, but we had problems with the front suspension, because when I braked hard it bottomed out and the front folded. The important thing is that we had the pace and I was fighting all the time. We finished three seconds behind the winner and I think today we could have fought for the podium.”
#26 Adrián Martín “I had many problems to follow the others, but especially accelerating, because aside from that the bike went pretty well. But we were fighting until I crashed. The closest thing we had was 15th place and I gave everything to get it. It would have been positive to be here and take points, but we finished with a crash. This is not my year, but I remain confident in myself. For Japan I hope my hand will be better and that I can do a good overseas run to finish the year enjoying myself on the bike.”
