Efrén Vázquez in the top ten in Motegi
The GP in Japan has not been easy for the JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse team and in the end Efrén Vazquéz saved the situation with a positive 9th place. It’s not what the rider and his team had been expecting from this race, but many influencing factors came together and in the end they could turn it around into something positive. His team mate Adrián Martín had a very consistant race and until the final lap he’d been fighting for a position in the points, but he then had a run off track and crossed the line in 17th place. But the feeling had been very positive throughout.
There was bad luck for Alberto Moncayo, rider for Andalucía JHK T-Shirt LaGlisse. He’d been working hard this weekend with his team to improve the braking, but the problems couldn’t be solved. They hope to find the right way this coming weekend in Malaysia.

It’s been a hard race, I’d say the most difficult of the season. But bearing in mind that in this circuit we’ve never been able to find a lot of rhythm and the best way to go fast, it’s very positive to gain these points. This is the 5th year that I’m racing here and I think I’ve only ever finished in the points once. The important thing was to finish and this will give us strength to face the race in Malaysia.

This has left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth because I gave it everything until that final lap. I’d caught up with the group fighting for 13th place and in the final lap I was leading coming onto the back straight, but arriving at the braking point two riders had passed me and when I braked the bike folded and I crashed. But I’m satisfied with the race, I had a great rhythm and was very consistent. This gives me confidence for Malaysia where we will also have improvements in the engine.

I don’t know what to say. This morning in warm up we tried something new, but we had a problem with the electronics and could only do one lap. In the race the tire didn’t have much grip, we had problems on the brakes, and once I had a big wobble and the oher time I ran off track. In the end I had to retire which is a pain because I really like the circuit and I couldn’t enjoy riding here. In Malaysia we will have to turn this situation around.
