Elena Rosell battles difficult Sepang conditions to make great 20th position

 In Moto2, News

Elena Rosell had every reason to be proud of her race today at Sepang. Starting from 31st place on the grid, the lady racer from Valencia not only reached her goal of fighting with a group of other riders, but got stronger and stronger as the race went on.

In 26th position after 12 laps, she gained six more places in the last three laps to finish in 20th position, her personal best in GP racing, when the race was red-flagged because of heavy rain.

Elena Rosell – 20th
“It was a really difficult race because the track conditions were very very tricky, especially towards the end when it started to rain heavily again. We had a certain lack of grip, so I wasn’t completely confident when opening the throttle, but I still made lots of progress in the race and my lap times got better and better. I even managed to catch some of the other riders, which felt great. I probably should have pushed harder from the beginning, but there are many riders with a lot more experience than I have in these conditions. I am still very happy with the way this weekend went, since we improved steadily and learned a lot. I am now looking forward to the next race in Australia. Phillip Island is another new circuit for me, but from all I know it is beautiful track. Congratulations to my team-mate Anthony who got a great result. He is widely known for his skills in the rain and he really deserves this result because he fought as hard as he possibly could!”
