Silva qualifies 19th on his first visit to Phillip Island

Iván Silva, rider of the Blusens Avintia team, had a difficult qualifying session, bearing in mind that this is his first visit to the circuit.

A few minutes before the end of qualifying, he tasted the Australian asphalt in a small crash that didn’t do any damage, but this was enough to prevent him from improving his grid position for tomorrow’s race.

That small crash really is a shame because we’ve had a fairly good weekend. Since yesterday, we’ve been very closet o the other CRT bikes and every time I’m feeling more confident on the bike. The weather conditions complicated things and due to the crash I couldn’t improve my position. I’m a bit annoyed because I think we could have had a good qualifying. But I’m also positive because we’re consistent in the races and tomorrow we can be with the riders that have beaten me today and fight for a good position. We’ve had a few GPs where the qualifying wasn’t great but where we could get a good result in the race itself. I’m hoping I’ll be able to do the same tomorrow because the team deserves this.
