Luis Salom fights back to 15th after jumpstart ride through
A jumpstart ruined the Australian GP for Luis Salom. RW Racing GP’s top rider had to make a drive through while fighting in the leading group. The start of the race was messy: also Jack Miller, Jonas Folger, Alberto Moncayo and Louis Rossi made a jumpstart.
Salom re-entered the race in the far back of the pack in 26th position and had to work his way through. The one point he picked up finishing 15th might be crucial as his only rival in the world championship standings, Maverick Viñales, crashed out.
Luis Salom (15th):
“I don’t know exactly what happened, but it was chaotic. With five riders making a jumpstart something must be wrong. Anyway, it is of no use to think about it too much. Luckily for me Viñales made a mistake as well and I’m still second in the championship. It’s good to fly back home after these three races. One more race to go!”
