Crash with cold tyres ends Barbera’s home race early

The Grand Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, final round of the 2012, started with grey clouds looming over the 4.005 km of the Ricardo Tormo circuit and the race was declared wet by race direction.

Starting from the 9th spot on the grid, when the red light switched off, the Pramac Racing Team rider Hèctor Barberà was able to climb over four opponents, making the best start of his 2012 MotoGP campaign and ending the first lap in 5th place.

Unfortunately, on lap nineteen, after coming into pits to switch to his bike with slicks, Héctor took a tumble (due to the low temperature of the tyre) that forced him to finish his last race with the Ducati too early.

Héctor Barberà “Obviously I’m not happy about today: I switched to the bike with slicks, but I struggled a lot to get the tyres at the right temperature and I crashed. It’s a shame, because it was the final round of this season and it was also my home race. I have to say thanks both to my crew and the people that worked with us.”

Francesco Guidotti – Pramac Racing Team Manager – “An unlucky first flag to flag for us. It’s a pity for Héctor’s crash that did not allow us to achieve the top ten in the overall standing. But I want to say thanks to him for this 2012 adventure with the Pramac Racing team. It was a pleasure work with him!”
