Good battle for Elias to take top ten finish in season finale
Tricky weather made it difficult in all classes at the Valencian Grand Prix today, both for strategies and races. The Italtrans Team has only partly been able to achieve the targeted results. Toni Elias, who on Saturday was not able to perform as wanted, in the race bettered his position joining the top-ten.
Toni Elias (49’30”125 – 9th) “A very tough race. And poor grip at the rear. The situation bettered through the race, while the asphalt dried up. The most exciting moment at the end, when I’ve been able to progress from 15th position to 9th in just three laps. A great battle in which I had the upper hand. It has been good, in a condition like that. I want to thank Italtrans for the opportunity that has been given to me, and I’m prepared to test and see what the future will bring”.
Pierluigi Aldrovandi (Elias race engineer) “Working with Toni is quite interesting, as he is very precise and reactive at every different setting. For today’s race we proceeded along the technical path we decided together, and tried to give him a bike that could suit his needs. We have been able to do that even if not in full, and Toni did his best”.
Luigi Pansera (Team Manager) “Very rarely during the season we have been able to get results rewarding us for Saturday’s performance. That was a limit of ours. This is what happened also today, and we are very disappointed, as we all were convinced to be in a position to get much more”.
