Espargaro brothers and Sito Pons receive Pinguinos Awards in front of over 25.000 bikers
Sito Pons as well as Pol Espargaró and his brother Aleix were honoured by 25.694 bikers who were enduring the cold winter temperatures to participate this weekend in the XXXII Concentración Invernal Pingüinos 2013 which took place in Pinar pucelano de Antequera de Puente Duero.
While Sito Pons was honoured for his management of the Moto2 Pons team, Pol Espargaro received a “Penguin” Award for his runner-up finish in the 2012 season and his brother Aleix for taking top spot in the CRT class.
Sito Pons said that he was “excited about the recognition of the thousands of fans in attendance, who braved the weather to start the year with an exciting biker weekend and it has been an honor to be a protagonist.”
Pol Espargaró, meanwhile, acknowledged that “I had a great time and felt the passion from the fans the entire time. I’ve heard of the Pingüinos before and had seen many pictures, but until you experience it for yourself you don’t realize its importance and that in every race we are surrounded by the best fans in the world. Hopefully they may also reach their goal in 2013.”
The goal he speaks of was also supported by Sito Pons and the rest of the winners and all those present at the event who love motorcycles, hoping that in 2013 as soon as possible the crash barriers, which have already caused so many deaths and serious injuries, will disappear from the highways in Spain.
