OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPortuguese teenager Miguel Oliveira, competing this season with a Mahindra Racing Suter machine in the Moto3 class, was satisfied with his first day of testing in Valencia today. After the regulatory absence of action in the championship, Miguel had his first opportunity to evaluate the bike with which he will be contesting in the Moto3 World Championship and he focussed his work on finetuning and developing the bike instead of searching for fast laps.

“We ended up having a few problems after three laps, which was positive because we are at a very early stage and we have time to solve and understand the problems we might be having from now on,” pointed out the youngster from Almada.

“We are much better prepared to avoid those problems and we now know the bike has lots of potential. Engine wise, we are already at a better level than last year, and this happens on our first attempt, which is important for such a recent project. The chassis is very similar to last year’s,” said Oliveira, further explaining that the small crash was due to some power delivery problems.

Anyhow, the “first day was positive. Tomorrow we will try to solve everything in order to continue the development which, so far, has been good. We will try to do more laps and to better understand the bike.”
