Guevara springs a surprise at Jerez and leads Moto3 rookies in second preseason test
From 19th to 21st of February the second official IRTA test of the Moto3 preseason was held at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain, hoping for warm weather which didn’t materialize. The first of the three testing days was marred by wet conditions throughout the day and the riders were able to work on their wet setups. Lorca native Juanfran Guevara finished the day in 14th position and was making good steps aboard his new TSR Honda bike.
On the second day of practice the CIP Moto rider surprised the field by leading the first session in the morning with the track being dry again and with higher temperatures. During the the rest of day the development of the new bike was the goal of the entire team.
On Thursday, the last day of testing, the rain returned to the track and the young Spaniard did only five laps to test out some electronic configurations since he had already done over 50 laps on the Andalusian track during the first day in wet conditions .
Juanfran Guevara eventually ended up sixth fastest overall in the combined time sheets from all three days, which made him the fastest of the Rookies as well as the highest place rider with a Honda engine.
