Elias IRTA JerezThe final preseason test for the Moto2 riders has concluded at Jerez today, prior to their departure to Qatar to compete in the first GP of the year. The Avintia Blusens Team with Toni Elias and British Rookie Kyle Smith has done a good job during the four days of this official test.

Toni was the fastest rider on the first day, setting a great pace and being among the best. On the second day the rain disrupted the planned work for Toni to improve the dry setting, but he still managed the second-fastest time in the rain. Yesterday’s tests did not yield the expected results, but served to draw some conclusions that have allowed Toni to be among the fastest again today to finish the day in fifth and fourth in the overall standings. Definitely a good sign ahead of Qatar to where the Spaniard leave with confidence and good chances of achieving a great result.

Toni Elias (4th, 1.43’365): “I think we are ready to start the season. I’m happy, because we improved a lot compared to the last test at this track and because we have been among the first in virtually all sessions. The first day we were fastest in the dry and the next day in the wet we rode very consistent and took second. Only yesterday we were not among the fastest, because we tried several solutions that did not work as we wanted. Today we were competitive again and we gathered a lot of information that we will be a good base for Qatar. There is no denying that Pol seems to be one step ahead, but if we improve a bit more, then in Qatar I can be in the fight for victory. I leave Jerez very excited. The team never stops working, we are making progress every time we test something and I am sure we will be stronger every day.”
