Guevara just outside the points after good performance in Texas
For the first time the Moto3 world championship visited the brandnew circuit in Austin, Texas and the CIP Moto3 riders had some mixed fortunes. Juanfran Guevara finished the race just outside the points, going over the line only 0.111s behind 15th place while teammate Alan Techer crashed out in the tenth lap.
Practice and qualifying had been difficult for both riders as particular technical issues kept them from qualifying better than 24th and 27th.
The race was separated in two parts due to a red flag after a heavy crash from Jasper Iwema. During the five lap sprint Juanfran made a decent comeback to pick up the positions, but in the end fell just 0.111 seconds short of 15th place which would have meant his first championship point.
The next Grand Prix will take place on 5th May in Jerez.
Alain Bronec, team owner: “It’s a track which is not easy and demands a lot of learning from all riders. We work hard with Honda to make the bikes more competitive.”
