Decent start for Oliveira in Mugello with sixth position on first day
Miguel Oliveira was very consistent this Friday in Mugello, the stage of the Grand Premio d’Italia TIM, fifth round of the 2013 MotoGP World Championship. The Portuguese set the sixth fastest time of the day with his MGP3O, just over one second away from the fastest rider Luis Salom.
After yesterday’s rain, Mahindra Racing’s youngster was the seventh fastest on the wet track this morning, with a lap time of 2m10,373s. During the afternoon, with sunshine and dry asphalt, riders shaved some 10 seconds from the morning results, and the Portuguese was no exception. Oliveira lapped in 2m00,618s, which translated into the sixth spot on the combined time shits.
Miguel Oliveira: “The track conditions weren’t ideal for fast riding, we just collected some information. I tried a new aerodynamic solution which made me feel more comfortable on the bike and, although not much, it also gave me a bit more top speed.
The forecast for tomorrow is for rain, which will, to some extent, affect the work we had planned. All in all, I am satisfied, mainly because the crash in France hasn’t affected my confidence on the bike.”
