Dani Pedrosa Blog, Mugello: 20 more points
The Italian GP was quite positive for us, because in spite of not winning we still were able to pick up 20 points and we stay at the top of the overall standings in the World Championship. Bearing in mind that it was a complicated weekend on the whole we got a good result.
From the very first moment we realised that we lacked grip, and that meant we had to make some changes to the setup on the bike. Pole position on the Saturday came at the very last moment in a very tight qualifying session. Everything went well though, however we knew that we were going to have a hard time on Sunday.
Mugello is a very long circuit, and it is not the best place to try and get a new setup that will give you more grip because the extra physical effort makes it very hard, so even though I set some very fast laps, as the race went on I could not maintain the pace I had at the start. In the end, we took a good second place and a twelve point lead in the standings, something that gives me a lot of confidence for the race at Montmeló, which as you all know is very important for me.
Yesterday we visited a sponsor in Salzburg, where they have an impressive hangar with planes, cars, road bikes and even a restaurant. It’s huge! I participated in a sports programme that is shown on the television in Austria, Germany and the German speaking zone in Switzerland. It was a lot of fun.
To finish the blog I have added a photo of these special exhaust pipes that have been customised with my name and the number 26, one is for motocross and the other for supermotard.
Now I can rest for a few days and think about the Catalunya GP, which is always something special. See you here next week!
