Great comeback from 32nd to 19th for Wildcard rider Rivas
After a very difficult weekend for Team TSR Moto2 in which things didn’t go as well as expected in the practice sessions, both Dani Rivas and the team turned things around and showed an excellent race at the Catalunya Grand Prix.
The technical issues Rivas suffered with his Kalex bike were solved and Dani started the race highly motivated to do the best job possible and enjoy himself on the bike, which is crucial to achieve a good result. Rivas made a good jump forward in the race compared to his position on the grid.
The work was done, the results were very positive and so the team and rider make their way to the next round of the Spanish Championship in Albacete with renewed optimism.
#7 DANI RIVAS – 19º “We started from far behind due to some problems we had in the qualifying yesterday. This morning in the warmup we did a big change and it went really well, and in the race I started very conident, at least to be able to ride well with good grip and being able to finish the race as high up as possible, which was my goal. I could avoid the crash at the end of the straight and also, by a whisker, the one in the stadium section. Then I rode in a group and caught up with the guys in front. In the the straight I struggled to stay in the slip stream and I was passed very easily, but in the corners I went comfortably and I knew I could stay with the rider sin my group.
At the end I focused on getting to the last lap leading the group and I did that, but I was passed out of the slip stream just before the finish line. But well, it’s a good result, from 32nd to 19th in a world championship race is a satisfying result after how things went during the weekend. We could solved the problems and I am very happy about having finished, to have finished better than I started and I’m very motivated ahead of the CEV race in Albacete.”
