Positive conclusion for Bautista and Gresini Team after very busy second day of testing at Aragon
With pleasant conditions, rather than the rain which blighted yesterday’s test at Motorland Aragon in Alcañiz, a second and final day of action at the Spanish track provided positive results for Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini. Alvaro Bautista and his technicians were happy with their findings after 72 laps of the track, in which they tested new forks, a Showa rear shock absorber and various new braking components from Nissin. The best lap time for Bautista was 1’49”9 – although the focus for the team was testing out new ideas and parts for the RC213V, rather than watching the clock. The team leaves Aragon – where last year they had difficulties all weekend – confident about the future.
Alvaro Bautista “After the rain yesterday we were finally back to working intensely today, in what was an extremely positive day of testing. Last year at the Aragón circuit we had particular difficulties riding, but after this test I feel confident about it. I am satisfied with the new forks, because I didn’t have any annoying chatter with them, and the rear shock has given me a lot of confidence. The new Nissin brakes are performing very well too. Overall it was a positive day which bodes well for the future – starting with the next race at Assen. I want to redeem myself after the disappointment of Barcelona, so I can’t wait for that.”
Fausto Gresini “The signs that are coming in from Alcañiz are that we have had an extremely positive day. We are satisfied, our technicians are satisfied, the Showa technicians are satisfied and the Nissin technicians are satified, so that speaks for itself. We weren’t focusing on getting a fast lap time, rather we were after making some important tests with some parts, which we completed in full. We are satisfied and are very enthusiastic about the future. We can’t wait for the Assen race, where we at Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini are determined to get a good result.”
