For bike fans all over the world the final Saturday in June means only one thing: the Dutch TT.

Amidst the constant changes in MotoGP this one date remains firm on the calendar, as it has one every year since the inception of the championship. The current 4.542km layout is fast, flowing and technical and even though some of the mystique has been lost over years of changes it remains one of the most prestigious venues for a rider to taste victory at. The riders arrive at round seven with seven points separating the top two, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, but with Marc Márquez in close attendance.

Aleix Espargaró said after a recent test following the Catalan Grand Prix that it had been the most productive session he had enjoyed since signing for the POWER ELECTRONICS Aspar team and he is hoping to put some of that progress into practice this week.

The Spaniard was able to try a variety of chassis options as well as a new front fork and some changes to the rear set-up. He has not stopped smiling since the test finished and he can’t wait to try the updates at this legendary circuit, where he is aiming to continue an unbeaten run as top CRT since the start of the season.

Aleix Espargaró:
“The lap times we set in the test after the race at Catalunya were pretty spectacular. I tried a few different chassis options and we did a whole host of tests to work out what material we are going to use from now until the end of the season. The ART handles really well and the chassis allows for an infinite number of variables, which gives us a bit of an advantage over our rivals. Thanks to a lot of hard work from the team we are getting great results considering what we have but we can still improve. The bike turns really well but I think we can find some more corner speed. I quite like Assen and it is always special to race there. I think our bike will suit the characteristics of the layout and I am looking forward to getting to work. It is a special time for myself and the team at the moment and I hope we can continue with this positive run of form.”
