Rabat impressed with spectacular new Argentinian circuit
Tito Rabat (Tuenti HP 40) is one of six riders who were chosen to test out the new circuito de Termas de Río Hondo, location of the Gran Premio de Argentina en 2014, about 1.100km northeast of Buenos Aires. Together with the Barcelona rider, MotoGP stars Alvaro Bautista, Stefan Bradl, Hector Barbera and Cal Crutchlow are also out to test the 4,8km track, as is fellow Moto2 rider Nico Terol.
Tito Rabat finished the first day of testing on Thursday as the faster one of the two, posting a best laptime of 1.48.5 in the 30th of his 51 laps, being the busiest rider on track. Nico Terol finished the day 1.5 seconds behind the Tuenti HP 40 rider.
Friday will hold the second and final day of testing, again taking place between 10AM and 5PM.
1. TITO RABAT, 1.48.592 “I’m happy to be in Argentinia and be one of the first to ride on such a spectacular circuit. I like the layout, with fast corners, angles, various points to overtake, all the right ingredients to make for great racing when we return next year for the Grand Prix. We also experienced the love and support from the Argentinian fans, despite this only being a test with just a few riders they came over in big numbers to watch us and support us. Tomorrow the track will surely be cleaner and have more grip and we can improve our laptimes.”
