Productive first day for Vinales and Carrasco in Germany
Maverick Viñales was third in the morning and fifth in the afternoon session on the first day of practice at the German Grand Prix. The Catalan was able to try a lot of thigs on his KTM and although his final position wasn’t what he hoped for, both the team and Maverick are confident that tomorrow they can make a step forward. Sachsenring is a circuit where the laptimes are always very close and the setup is crucial to stay in the fight. Tomorrow the team plans to make several changes to achieve the best possible position in qualifying.
For Ana Carrasco it was one of her best days since she made her debut in the world championship. The Team Calvo rider went as high up as ninth, but in the end couldn’t improve her laptimes and was relegated in the time sheets, but knowing well that tomrrow she can still improve and being very confident ahead of the race.
#25 Maverick Viñales – 5º – 1’28”252 “It was a productive day, because we could ride and test a lot. But we still have to improve a lot and tomorrow we’ll try to do that. We lack a little bit everywhere, a bit on the bike and a bit on myself to give 100%. We have to keep working on the chassis, because in general all the KTMs are the same and we have to focus on getting the best out of what we have. It’s only Friday and there’s still a lot of work to do before Sunday.”
#22 Ana Carrasco – 24ª – 1’29”471 “I’m a little happier than on other Fridays. The bike is better every time and although at the end of the session we changed something on the setting and when we mounted a new tyre we couldn’t improve, in general the feeling has been very good. Tomorrow we have to work on finding more grip, because I am sliding everywhere, but I liked the circuit from the start and I think we can do well this weekend.”
