Elias frustrated and looking for solutions after finishing 21st in Germany
A bad weekned for the Blusens Avintia Moto2 Team at the German Grand Pirx. Despite the hard work from the whole team, neither Toni Elias nor Kyle Smith were ever in the position to fight for a good result.
Toni spent the two days of practice searching for grip on the rear without success. This resulted in a bad qualifying on Saturday which meant a start from far behind for the race which didn’t go any better. The Spaniard crossed the finish line in 21st position, making up a few places from his grid position, but a team like Blusens Avintia and a champion like he is deserve a better result.
Kyle seemed to have found a setup which gave him less trouble that Toni, but two crashes in practice due to a front tyre which didn’t work as expected and another one in the race when he tried to make up positions, affected the race weekend of the British rider heavily. Now there will be a short summer break before the Moto2 field returns at Indianapolis and then team hopes to make a fresh start and get back on the way of good results for the second half of the season.
24 Toni ElÃas (21º, +47.005): “I could make up little. I wasn’t comfortable with the bike throughout the weekend and I can’t be satisfied. We have to analyze why we are not competitive and find solutions. Now there’s some time until Indianapolis where I hope things will go much better than here. It was a shame, because if we had managed to go fast here, we would surely have gone fast at the rest of the circuits, because this track is difficult and requires a lot of setup work. We won’t give up and will keep fighting.”
