Simon takes best result of the season with fourth place in Germany
At the Sachsenring, Julian Simon presented his team with the best result of the season so far.
The Spaniard also set the race fastest lap (1’24”809, lap number 5) and the podium was at his fingertips until a few minutes to the end.
Julian Simon (41’25”045 – 4th ) “I did an excellent start and made up a few places. Unfortunately I had to begin again from square one, because at the second lap, corner number eleven, I did a mistake, selecting the wrong gear and almost crashed. Lap after lap I recovered, but had to slow down in the last kilometers, with problems with my left leg and having lost a slider”.
Pierluigi Aldrovandi (Simon race engineer) “We wanted and deserved this result. We are happy. Maybe we lost the podium, but this is not the point – the point was to come back in the top zone”.
Luigi Pansera (Team Manager) “Really a great race. Takaaki is recovering well, and Julian got his best result so far this season. We are happy, feel good and are confident. Everybody will benefit of the holiday that is waiting for us. We will knock at Indianapolis’ door ready to fight for a top result”.
