Jordi Torres signs preliminary 2014 agreement with Pons
According to Spanish motorcycle sporting magazine Motocuatro Jordi Torres has a preliminary agreement with Sito Pons to replace Pol Espargaro in the Pons Racing Moto2 squad in 2014.
Jordi’s excellent form in this – his first full season in Moto2 – has not gone unnoticed by Pons, and the famous team boss has the youngster in his sights to replace Pol Espargaro when he moves up to the top class for 2014.
The Motocuatro article suggests that the move would be dependent upon the actions of Jorge Martinez Aspar, with whom Torres is currently under contract and who in theory have Jordi lined up for the 2014 season, although contractually this could change depending upon offers from Aspar and his sponsors to reflect the value of the fast-progressing rider.
So for now nothing definitive is confirmed, and no final deal struck, but all looks rosy for Jordi whatever the outcome – and deservedly so after his great work so far in the class.
