Great start by Maverick Viñales and Team Calvo at the first day of free practice at Brno
It’s been a good start to the Czech GP weekend for Maverick Viñales. The rider from Catalonia dominated both practice sessions today at Brno, but as usual it’s been a very tight affair. But Maverick and the team are working to perfection and are already thinking about Sunday’s race. Tomorrow the goal is to fight for the pole position, or at least to secure a starting position in the front row.
Also for Ana it was a good day. The young Team Calvo rider finished 22nd but most importantly she feels very good on the bike at this circuit that is yet another new circuit for her. She hopes to be able to qualify in a similar position tomorrow to enable her to start from as high up the grid as possible.

The GP weekend has started very well, but we also have to make sure it finishes well. Because what counts is the race on Sunday. I think we’ve got a good starting point, the setting is good but we have to try and drop the times a bit more. I like the circuit a lot, last year we also started the weekend well. This year it’s a bit more difficult because the chassis of the KTM is a bit more complicated, but I’m doing a lot of work with the team to find the perfect setting. Today was only the first day.
#22 Ana Carrasco – 22nd place – 2.10.941 / @AnaCarrasco_22
I’m very happy because from the first to the second outing we improved a lot and I could get a good time. I think, given this is also a new circuit for me, the position is good, and I believe there’s still loads more room for improving the setup to get even better times. I like the circuit a lot, but it’s difficult to find the ideal race line because it’s wide, but it’s got many fast corners that I like a lot. Tomorrow we’ll just have to continue in this good way.

I think it’s been a very positive first day because we’ve been able to try different things on the bike and Maverick has shown that he’s got a great rhythm. But most importantly he’s happy with the bike and we’re doing some great work in preparing for the race.
I believe Anita has done one of the best practice sessions of the season and she’s a lot closer to the riders in front of her.I’d also like to send my most sincere condolences to the family of Álvaro Bultó about the tragic news that have reached us here in Brno.
