Despite fighting for pole position until the last minute, Maverick Viñales will start tomorrow’s race from second position on the grid.

The Team Calvo rider worked really hard to get a good rhythm for the race and when he went out looking for a fast lap the tyres weren’t right. He is still very confident for tomorrow and believes his rhythm will make the difference in the 19 laps of the race.

Ana Carrasco, who finished 22nd yesterday, could improve her lap time today by nothing less than 6 tenths of a second, but she didn’t feel comfortable and caught a lot of traffic towards the end of the session. The Team Calvo rider will start from 30th place but is confident she can make up many positions during the race.

Today was a good day. At first we struggled to get going, but I think in general the session was positive. We found our rhythm and worked without focusing on the others which is something we haven’t done for a while and which I think is really good. We couldn’t use the tyre that had been working well and we couldn’t reach the pole, but we do have a good pace and that’s the most important. One’s never calm before a race but I feel more confident and am looking forward to it more than in Indy.

I’m a bit annoyed because I believe we could have finished a lot higher up today. In the morning we had some problems with the bike setup, but in the afternoon I felt better and I could improve on yesterday’s times. But the riders in front also improved and in the end we return to a starting position further down the field and that’s not where we should be if we want to fight for the points like it is our aim this season. Tomorrow I’ll give my all at the start and during the race and I want to finish the race.

I think Maverick had a good session because overall we were able to work on the race rhythm and that’s very good. He’s got the pace and a good setup which is very important on a track like this. We tried the tyres well and Maverick can fight for the win tomorrow. Ana was a bit unlucky in this session and couldn’t get a good lap in, but her progress over the weekend is very consistent and I believe she can do well tomorrow.
