The bwin Grand Prix of the Czech Republic proved another excellent race for Maverick Viñales, helping his points haul and title chase with yet another podium to add to this year’s unbroken tally.

The Team Calvo rider practically dominated the entire race, setting its pace. Unlike other races, this race was lead by a group of 5 riders.

The last couple of laps were fit to give any spectator heart failure, but the Catalonian rider kept his cool and achieved a second place which is very valuable for the championship.

Ana Carrasco had a good race after starting from a position that wasn’t so great, she found her rhythm about halfway through the race and managed to climb up to 23rd place. The points get closer every time. In Silverstone she’ll start from zero again but with more enthusiasm and a lot more experience on her Team Calvo KTM.

It’s been a very good race. At the beginning we went a little careful but then we maintained a great rhythm during all laps. Then we started to battle each other which made the group quite big. Together with the team I did a good job with the setup, but there’s always room to improve the grip during the last couple of laps. I wanted to attack in the last lap but there was a bit of a tangle and I couldn’t pull it off. In Silverstone we have to get the maximum out of the bike and myself.

At the end this isn’t the result that I wanted, but 23rd isn’t bad given where we started from and how the first couple of laps went. I didn’t feel very comfortable on the bike and I could not keep it on the line. But halfway through the race with less fuel in the tank I started to get into my rhythm and could catch up to the group in front of me. I’m angry because we always spend Sundays catching up many positions, therefore we have to become better on Saturdays. With the pace we’re riding at it’s clear that we could finish in the points regularly.

We’re very happy with Maverick’s race. He played his cards very well and had a good rhythm from the first to the last lap. The problem was the scrap that happened towards the end, this stopped him from attacking where he had planned to. Despite this, he was very strong today and surely another win will follow soon which will be important for the championship. Ana had to play catch-up again during the race. We have to work on getting her into a better position on Saturday because her rhythm improves every time she gets on the bike.
