Maverick Vinales takes another front row, Carrasco hampered by engine problems in qualifying

A good day for Maverick Viñales and Team Calvo where the rider from Roses took an important front row start. Although his main rival for the title, Luis Salom, had some problems and will only start from 10th tomorrow, Viñales thinks that it will not be an easy race and that the Mallorcan will be back at the sharp end. Although in the end he tried to get pole, Maverick had a problem with chattering, but both him and the team are confident to solve this before the race.

His teammate Ana Carrasco was up to 16th in the middle of the qualifying, but a drop in performance from her bike engine didn’t allow her to maintain that position and in the end she was relegated to 28th place. But the young rider from Cehegín feels strong and hopes to make a great comeback tomorrow.

Folger and Rins were very fast, but we still have the warmup to improve. I had some problems with chattering at the end, but we could solve it. Tomorrow can be a good chance and we have to use it from the start of the race to try and open a gap, but I believe Salom will be back up there.”

Ana Carrasco #22 – 28ª – 1’44”902 “We were doing a very good practice and I was establishing myself in the Top 20, but in the end something happened with the bike, I don’t know if maybe something broke, but in the final minutes we basically couldn’t do anything. Despite the bike troubles I could do a good laptime, but it’s a shame, because I think I could have gone much faster. These things happen and we couldn’t do anything. I feel strong, with a good pace, but tomorrow I have to start well and go as far up as I can.”
