Vinales makes up ground with another second place, Carrasco happy with good pace at Misano
This weekend the Moto3 race had only two main protagonists, Maverick Viñales and Álex Rins. Both were leading the field in every lap and they fought for the win until the last of the 23 laps. The Team Calvo rider gave everything, but in the end he got into the last corner harder than normal and couldn’t launch a last attack. But this second place is very important for the championship, with five races to go Maverick is 19 points behind leader Luis Salom.
Ana Carrasco made a great comeback after starting from far behind on the grid, crossing the finish line in 19th position. A great result for the young rider who in every race is getting stronger on her KTM. The next stop is Aragón, Ana knows the track well and her goal will be to get into the points there.
Maverick Viñales #25 – 2º / “I was lacking just a tiny bit to win. But to be honest I am happy with the great work we did this weekend. We did a good race, this aim was to get the biggest gap possible in the first laps on Salom and we managed that. There’s a lot to improve, especially when opening the throttle and in Aragón we’ll give our best. It’s a shame not having been able to win, but we take on the final stretch of the season very motivated. Everything’s very close and it will all be decided in the final races.”
Ana Carrasco #22 – 19ª “I’m happy, because I think we did a good race and especially with a great pace. At the start I struggled a bit, because I didn’t find the best spots to overtake the guys in front, but when I managed that I started to ride faster and left them behind. I had a group in front, but they had more or less the same pace and I couldn’t close in. Every time we go quicker and now I’m looking forward to MotorLand, a circuit I know well and I hope we’ll have a bit more luck to go there and give everything.”
