Third home race beckons for Maverick Viñales & Ana Carrasco at Aragon
The world championship arrives at Aragón this weekend to hold the last European GP before the season enters the finish straight with 3 consecutive races on the Asian and Australian continents.
The outcome of Sunday’s race will be crucial for the riders’ motivation before heading into the triple. The provisional classification is very tight with the first 3 riders within 21 points. The title fight remains very much open with 5 races to go.
Maverick Viñales is fully aware of this fact and therefore will give his all at Motorland Aragón to shorten the points difference. The Team Calvo rider has spent several races chasing a victory and to do so at home is always more special.
For Ana it’ll also be a very important weekend. The Team Calvo rider has been stronger at every race, and she hopes to apply everything that she’s learnt while battling with the best riders during this weekend’s race in Motorland, a circuit she knows really well. Her aim will be to fight for her first points on Sunday.

I’m looking forward to getting back on the bike a lot and I believe here in Aragón we have a good chance to steal some more points of the leader and to get a bit further ahead of Rins. I think it’s a great circuit to recommence the chase. The feeling after the last race is good because we’ve already been able to shorten the points distance to Salom. The win has to come and I’m hoping it’ll be this weekend because it would be great to win at home. Motorland holds good and bad memories for me, but this season all have been good and that’s what matters.

I believe in Motorland things can work out really well. I know this circuit and after doing such great work on the bike in Misano, where I could ride very close to the leading group despite not knowing the circuit, I believe we can achieve some great results here. Jerez was very early on in the season, but I did well until I crashed while riding in 16th place, and Barcelona was a complicated weekend, but I arrive here with the bike in better shape and I hope I can ride further upfront. Let’s see if it is going to be “third time lucky” and I’ll get to where I know I can be.

A race in Spain is always very important, for the team and for our sponsors Calvo and JHK T-Shirt. But this weekend especially could make all the difference in fighting for the title or not. But I’m calm because I can see that Maverick is very strong and I believe we can achieve a good result. Ana gets to a GP that could be crucial for her, she knows the track and with the experience she’s been gaining all year I believe she can perfectly be within the top 15.
