European-championship-2013

Over a hundred riders will gather this weekend in Albacete on the occasion of the celebration of the FIM Europe Road Racing European Championship. Everyone will be competing over a single race for the coveted title of European Champion.

A real battle is expected in the category of the smaller machines ―Moto3™― which this year will feature 44 top-notch riders on the track. Riders from the national championships of Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Netherlands, as well as those from championships of the Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the Alpe-Adria region, and also representatives from up to eleven countries, will all have their first contact with the Spanish track this Friday during the free practice sessions.

The Supersport 600 category will also be contested by a wide range of riders: up to 37 riders from 16 countries will fight a duel for the slot Jordi Torres ―reigning European champions― leaves vacant with his absence this year. Not so in the case of Superstock 1000 category, in which current European Champion Carmelo Morales will fight to defend his title this weekend. But he’ll have to do it against 21 other riders, each hungry for the glory of the podium, not to mention a cut of the € 90,000 in prize money at stake in the Championship this year.

The racing schedule is as follows:

• 10:30 Superstock 1000 20 Laps
• 11:45 Supersport 600 20 Laps
• 13:00 Moto3 18 Laps

The races can be followed live from home via the Energy channel in Spain and mitele.es worldwide. Foreign television stations, such as MotorsTV (pan-Europe), Eurosport (France), DigiSport (Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic); Kreator (Croatia); Sport TV (Portugal, Angola, Mozambique) and RAI (Italy) will also be broadcasting some or all of the races.
